Former Tottenham Hotspur manager Harry Redknapp has revealed that Manchester United were ‘close’ to signing Luka Modrić in 2012.  

United had just surrendered the league title to Manchester City after a dramatic final day that is currently under the microscope in the news following the landmark ruling by the Premier League. At the time, Sir Alex Ferguson was set upon regaining the championship, and had two icons of the league in mind to help him get there.
