For years Manchester United lacked attackers of conviction, and then, since they signed some, the issue has been trying to get them all to blend into a coherent system.  

In the summer of 2025, Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo and Benjamin Sesko arrived in a window that transformed how the Old Trafford front line looked.  

Then, the manager was Ruben Amorim, and he was operating with a 3-4-3 system. The idea was to play Mbeumo on the right, Cunha on the left and Sesko through the middle. It was a formation which brought good things out of Mbeumo in particular as Amad played on the right side of the midfield four, and it allowed the two to interchange and find space.
