In his post-match press conference following Manchester United’s draw at Everton, Michael Carrick became defensive when he was asked about the high expectations at the club and the slow start to the season.
‘It’s not that bad, you know?’ Carrick said. ‘We were a lot closer to coming away with three points today. That's football, there are moments that we can deal with a bit better, but we'll be fine.’
It follows a back-and-forth with former striker-turned-pundit Jan Aage Fjortoft, who suggested a lack of passion had been on show in United’s opening-day defeat to Hull City.
